The Chanakya National Law University, Patna (CNLU) was established in 2006. It is situated in the state of Bihar in India. The university is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is spread over 18 Acres of land. CNLU offers undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses and research degree to the law aspirants. It also provides a spacious environment and full AC classrooms that promote focused and dynamic discussion. CNLU Application Process 2020

CNLU, Patna (Chanakya National Law University) does not conduct an independent application process. The candidates can apply for the same while filling the CLAT application form. Mentioned below are the steps that need to be followed in order to apply for the CNLU, Patna.

  • The students are required to visit the official website namely, Consortium of NLUs.
  • From the home page, they have to select the option of CLAT and fill up the application form.

Candidates seeking admission in D.Phil from CNLU need to fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility criteria-

The candidate must be the judge of any State High Court or Supreme Court in India.


The aspirant must have experience of a minimum of ten years of active practice as an Advocate before the High Court or Supreme Court of India. The experience as a Judicial Official or Law experience in the government or semi-government, undertaking or reputed law firm for a minimum of 10 years of experience.


The aspirant is required to have a master’s degree in law with three years of experience as a regular teacher in any law college, university department, or research institution affiliated to a recognized university with the aptitude for research. The aptitude for research must be evidenced by the research work done by the candidate.


The candidate must have a Master’s Degree in Science or Social Science with three years of experience as a researcher or a regular teacher in any Research Institution, University Department, institution or PG college affiliated to any recognized university. The candidate must have an aptitude for research evidenced by the research work.
