Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the Degree of Bachelor of Tamil, shall be required to have passed the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu with Tamil as one the subject. Preference will be given to those who have taken Advanced Tamil as a subject in the qualifying examination.

A pass in the Higher Secondary Examination of Tamilnadu Higher Secondary Board or some other Board accepted by the by the syndicate as equivalent thereto with Mathematics (other than Business Mathematics) as one of the subjects.

A candidate who has passed Higher Secondary Examination with Mathematics or Business Mathematics or Computer Science or Statistics (Academic stream or vocational stream) as one of the subjects under Higher Secondary Board of Examination, Tamilnadu or as per norms set by the Government of Tamilnadu or an Examination accepted as equivalent therto by the syndicate subject to such conditions as may be prescribed thereto are permitted to appear and qualify for the Bachelor of Computer Application degree examination of Periyar university after a course of study of three academic years.

A Candidate shall be eligible to the first year of the Degree of Bachelor of Business Administration shall be required to have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (Academic or Vocational stream) conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu (or) an examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the syndicate of Periyar University. Preference will be given to those who have taken commerce as a subject in the qualifying examination.

Candidates seeking admission to Master of Arts in English degree course shall possess: A. An Under Graduate degree in English Language and Literature. B. An Under Graduate degree in English Language with Computer Applications.

An Under Graduate degree in Maths.

An Under Graduate degree in commerce.

An Under Graduate degree in Equivalent Stream.

An Under Graduate degree .

Candidates who have qualified for post graduate degree of Periyar University or any other University recognized by the syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible to register for the Degree of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.,) in their respective subject and undergo the prescribed course of study in an approved institution or department of Periyar University. Candidates who have qualified their postgraduate degree on or after 1st January 1991 shall be required to have obtained a minimum of 55% of marks in their respective postgraduate degrees to become eligible to register for the Degree of Master of Philosophy and undego the prescribed course of study in an approved institution or department of Periyar University.In the case of teachers (or) others registering for par-time registration, the minimum percentage of marks for registration is 50%.For the candidates belonging to SC / ST community, and those who have qualified for the Master degree before 01.01.1991 the minimum eligibility marks shall be 50% in their Master degree.

Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the Degree of Bachelor of Commerce - Computer Applications, shall be required to have passed the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu with Mathematics or Business Mathematics or Computer Science or Statistics or Business Statistics as one the subjects (or) an examination of any other university or authority accepted by the syndicate of Periyar University as equivalent thereto.
